Eoghan Harris & The Grand Old OIRA

category national | history and heritage | opinion/analysis author Sunday March 11, 2012 13:21author by Ex-Corkman Report this post to the editors

Eoghan Harris regularly rants about terrorism both real and imaginary. While he still checks under his bed for Trots his main fear is that we are in a Weimar Republic stage and Sinn Fein are on the verge of seizing power. He fails to notice that his beloved Blueshirts are the one party in Ireland with a Fascist past.

Star Commander Harris : Sir Anthony! Theres nae sign of intelligent life!
Star Commander Harris : Sir Anthony! Theres nae sign of intelligent life!

Now Bomber Harris has sometimes given convoluted explanations on how he moved from being an old guard Stalinist to a Neo-Con (the emphasis being on con) but he has been somewhat reticent to speak about the actions the Official IRA carried out while he was a member of SF, OSF, SFWP and the WP.

To help start off this debate I will itemise some actions of the OIRA. Perhaps Bomber Harris might explain why he didn't condemn these "terrorist" acts at the time?

NB: this not an attack on the OIRA or the memory of Joe McCann, it is intended to expose the hypocrisy of Eoghan Harris.

Anyway here we go:

12 December 1971 John Barnhill (65) Protestant
Status: Civilian Political Activist (CivPA), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Ulster Unionist Stormont Senator. Shot during bomb attack on his home, Brickfield House, near Strabane, County Tyrone.

22 February 1972 Gerry Weston (38) nfNIB
Status: British Army (BA), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Catholic chaplain to British Army. Killed in bomb attack on British Army (BA) base, Aldershot, England.

22 February 1972 Joan Lunn (39) nfNIB
Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Killed in bomb attack on British Army (BA) base, Aldershot, England. Civilian employed at the British Army (BA) base.

22 February 1972 Cherie Munton (20) nfNIB
Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Killed in bomb attack on British Army (BA) base, Aldershot, England. Civilian employed at the British Army (BA) base.

22 February 1972 Thelma Bosley (44) nfNIB
Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Killed in bomb attack on British Army (BA) base, Aldershot, England. Civilian employed at the British Army (BA) base.

22 February 1972 Margaret Grant (32) nfNIB
Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Killed in bomb attack on British Army (BA) base, Aldershot, England. Civilian employed at the British Army (BA) base.

22 February 1972 John Haslar (58) nfNIB
Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Killed in bomb attack on British Army (BA) base, Aldershot, England. Civilian employed at the British Army (BA) base.

22 February 1972 Jill Mansfield (34) nfNIB
Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Killed in bomb attack on British Army (BA) base, Aldershot, England. Civilian employed at the British Army (BA) base.

04 March 1972 Marcus McCausland (39) Catholic
Status: ex-Ulster Defence Regiment (xUDR), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
Found shot, by the side of Braehead Road, Derry.

21 May 1972 William Best (19) Catholic
Status: British Army (BA), Killed by: Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA)
On leave. Found shot, William Street, Derry.

This will do for a start. Hopefully Mr Harris will respond.

Eoghan Harris is in favour of bombing when it results in the mass murder of German civilians as in Dresden in 1945. No love for the working class on this occasion, they were guilty one and all. But thats not enough, Bomber Harris manages to continue his attack on those who question his lies about the War of Independence: those who question him are the same as neo nazis. Oh, and they support David Irving as well of course.

It used to be that you were a provo, provo trot or provo hushpuppy if you disagreed with Eoghan Harris. No more! Now you are a neo nazi or/and Irving fan if you dare to question Eoghan Harris.

Yesterday this article came up on page one if you googled Eoghan Harris. Now it doesn't come up at all. You have to google the full title to find it.

Funny that.

How regal is that portrait of Gen. Harris above. There is an uncanny resemblance to some photos (not photoshopped) of the late Gen. Pinochet of the democratic republic of Chile. Could these two people be related?

There is a pic of Harris in full flow and above that some other geezer with whom he bears a passing resemblance.

Well the two articles about Eoghan Harris are back. You now get them when you google Eoghan Harris. Funny that they were gone for a while. Maybe Eoghan Harris madea complaint and they were taken down for a while and restored when it was realised that as usual Eoghan Harris was talking shite.

Now Eoghan Harris now wants the DG of RTE and the Chair of the RTE Authority sacked because they are sheltering provo hush-puppies who have put Eoghan Harris on a blacklist to keep him off RTE!

Yep, still in denial. He writes the script for how MM should have answered Dobson. Bertie is innocent. the FF minsters were correct to attack the Tribunal.

The real hubris if not madness of Eoghan Harris is exposed by these words he puts in Michael Martins mouth in the invented conversation:

Micheal Martin: Actually it goes back further. All the way back to before the Arms Trial when Charles Haughey was a rising star and the source of corruption. As far back as 1967 the Seven Days team of Eoghan Harris, Dick Hill and Lelia Doolan were doing almost weekly exposes of planning abuses by the Fianna Fail fundraising group called TACA. All the abusers of planning were great nationalists, if not patriots."
