A dangerous splinter group from the far right British National Party is attempting to spread its tentacles across Britain in the wake of last years acrimonious split with the larger Griffen faction in a row over working conditions, corruption and harassment. And their base is to be Belfast. Scottish Loyalist and far right activist Jim Dowson ‘masterminded’ the Belfast BNP call centre for at least three years, under the noses of the Belfast ‘left’ and helped raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the party as well as co-ordinate several very successful election campaigns including the 2009 European election in which the Nazi’s secured two seats (Nick Griffen and Andrew Brons). Dowson was a "rent-a-cause" extremist who had been kicked out of the Orange Order. He has a list of criminal convictions including breach of the peace in 1986, possession of a weapon and breach of the peace in 1991 and criminal damage in 1992. Although a Protestant, he was happy to sell thousands of photographs of the Pope at inflated prices to Catholics in the Irish Republic. Following the well-publicised split within the BNP ranks last year, Dowson and other hard-core BNP activists (including Griffins main sidekick Mark Collet) left and quietly hinted that they would continue to be active ‘British Nationalists’, however they remained coy about what forum they would use to express their sick political beliefs. RNU Belfast can reveal that Dowson as well as other senior BNP acitists including Andrew McBride (regional organiser) and former Councillor Paul Goulding have now gone on to form the ‘Britain First’ movement, which if anything outshines the BNP in terms of racist attitude and far right values including support for the death penalty and blatant homo phobia. Sickeningly, they used the James Connolly Connolly saying “if voting changed anything it would be illegal” yet they do not attribute it to him. That these scum have set up in the centre of Belfast is an affront to a city steeped in resistance to facism and Britsh Nationalist. Republican Network for Unity will put steps in place to face these Nazi scum down in the near future. Their address is, Centre house, 79 Chichester Street, Belfast, BT1 4JE |
