On the tech side I presume its working off a cookie and thus can only be done from the PC & computer the story was first created on?

Yes, Its only the original poster who can edit the article and only for a certain period of time after posting. I think its currently 2 hours but if someone needs an emergency re-edit after that we can give them privilege to do so for a furher period on request.
