A.C.C.A.I. Easter Protest at Pro-Catherdral

category international | crime and justice | event notice author Thursday April 21, 2011 09:14author by Sean - A.C.C.A.I. Report this post to the editors

A.C.CA.I. are holding a protest at the Pro-Cathedral on Easter Sunday in remembrance of Christy Smith.

A.C.C.A.I. have been holding protests at the Pro-Cathedral since the 'Footwashing' stunt by the catholic church as a PR stunt in trying to bring an end to their involvement in the decades of abuse they carried out on children. This year is dedicated to and in memory of Christy Smith who died at the hands of Church and State.

It is now the second anniversary since the Ryan Report. We have seen one high profile case brought to court in relation to the Murphy Report. With the Cloyne Report to be released sometime this year, we can see the growing problem of the Catholic Church in Ireland. The church see's it’s self as a self appointed judge and jury to those of their flock and what ever country they are in.

Many of the survivors are still without recourse while the church carries on as if nothing really happened. And those priests that will need counselling to cope with the back lash from survivors! As always, turning the table to suit them selves. But those who go following the perpetrator of their crimes against them, have lost the battle. It is the Church, State and Government that are on trial, not the victims.

Forgiveness does not bring Justice; Justice is the course that brings healing. According to the bible only God can forgive. Asking the survivors to forgive is asking them to forget, and look what happened in Germany during the war. The Jewish people have never let the world forget what happened to them when Hitler was in Power. A man dedicated to the catholic faith and visited the Vatican regularly with the Jesuits carried out atrocious acts on the Jews. Let me remind you that the institutions in Ireland back in the 20's and 30' were already practising the removal of names in exchange for numbers, long before the concentration camps during World War 2.

The Catholic Church has corrupted our Republic beyond recognition.

Our aim is to keep pressure on the Catholic Church in Ireland of their accountability to the people they destroyed as children. Christy Smith is one example how the church and state treated children. Having been taken from his mother because she had children out of wedlock, Christy went through the orphanages and industrial schools till the age of 16 when state care ended. He was given a job with a farmer where he stayed for 3 years. Christy was homeless; he was arrested by Garda and brought to court charged with being with 'No Fixed Abode'. Christy was place in an adult mental institution where he remained for the rest of his life. A man who never committed a crime in his life, sentenced for being homeless.

We must recognise the lack of support Christy was given by the church and State. Why was no effort to help Christy when he emerged from state care into public life?

Christy's incarceration to a mental hospital got worse when the institution realised Christy did in fact have 'next of kin'. His sister Mary found out she had a brother in Cork, in a mental hospital. Mary done her best to get Christy out of the hospital where she witnessed the lack of care and attention a patient should have. Every moved was blocked by the head Psychiatrist denying Christy to his welfare.
Christy died a broken man claiming he had done his penance. It is now time for Christy and others who were treated with less than respect to their humanness, the Justice they and everyone one who have been seriously affected by this vile institution, be restored.

We are calling all to join us in bringing this Justice about.

It would have been kinder if they had shot us when we were children ,I really mean that , there are no words to discribe the suffering we were put through every day I used to pray to God to come and get me but he never did I was forced to spend nearly all of my childhood in Goldenbridge Industrial School for the whole of the 1950s the damage they caused us is measureless.

Abused Catholic Children Association of Ireland?I'd attend if were nearer to Dublin. I hope many do. The founder of their church said to harm a child was the one unforgivable act. May they meet their judge.
