Defenders of the climate 'consensus' have been getting angry in recent weeks, leading to embarrassing outbursts in the media. It's a sign of crisis in a scientific establishment that has banned dissent, says Ben Pile.

Protest at the Green Party special conference.

Join the protest at the Green Party special conference this Saturday July 18th at 9.30am

Protest the party's betrayal of Shell to Sea, tara, the Anti-War movement, the anti Incinerator campaigns, the education system, the health system, human and civil rights, animal rights etc. etc.

By January they will have cut the dole, made thousands redundant, further restricted civil rights, betrayed the elderly and the sick, implemented college fees and driven thousands onto emigrant boats and planes.

Be there so they cannot say we did not speak.

The Green Party conference lasts.

From: 10:00 am To: 06:00 pm
Location: Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2

They are a filthy disgrace to Ireland and to Greens everywhere. Tell them it's unacceptable and disgusting, and tell them again!

It certainly is the case that the Green Party has been criticised for apparently shying away from the issue of diet and climate change. Obviously, anyone can see the problems of advocating change in a society as speciesist as this one. Not a vote winner, to be sure - at the same time, the survival of the planet is at stake here (at steak even).

As part of "Animal Rights July" at UCD, we have shown the new environmental film, HOME, which also makes the connection between diet and climate change. The turnout was low - it makes one wonder if we are capable of change, not least for the sakes of our children and grandchildren who seem destined to pick up our destructive tab.
