![]() Taxi Drivers staged a protest this Monday 9th of February from the Garden of Remberance, Parnell Square to Merrion Square to demand an immediate stop to the issuing of new Taxi licences. The Taxi Rank at the top of O'Connell Street was bereft of the usual plethora of Taxis lunchtime yesterday. Hundreds took part in this protest which was organised by grassroots Taxi drivers, some of whom said they were fed up with the unions doing nothing. They had put Dublin to a standstill with a march and a convoy of Taxis, but none of the emergency services were 'discommoded'. Joe Higgins of the Socialist Party received his usual warm welcome before he spoke as did Richard Boyd Barret of People Before Profit. |
