Fresh off the presses-picture story for the bleary eyed on Xmas day. Jesus died for our sins and the group at the canal dived in the canal at the Blackhorse in Inchicore to raise money for republican prisoners.
It was all go at the canal. Special Branch showed no sign of government cutbacks as names and addresses were taken along the canal by a generous supply of officers.
The tough year was represented by Dunnes crips and mince pies, gone was the Coke and Walkers crisps. Five brave or mad enough to dive into the canal for the sponsored swim did so, the water much milder than previous years. Cabhair raised some money and one of the swimmers having won a wood carving from political prisoners donated it back to be auctioned.
A short festive photo story follows on some fundraising frolics at the canal on Christmas day.
Happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year to all

It's only non-swimmers that can laugh...
Just let me catch my breath....
If that dog jumps on his back....
Youse mad men!
Hi Ex !
Thanks for that message of support - much appreciated !
If you're in the vicinity next year , drop-by for a wee sup of 'lemonade' and a chat . And bring your swim togs if you want , because that crowd will be going mad again...
;-)
Thanks!
Sharon.
The swimmers raffle that turned into an auction!
This swimmer and his two mates turned the tables - they threw the crowd into the water!
