Over 8,000 people have hit up Ofgem to block Tesla from supplying UK homes, all because they can't stand Elon Musk's politics, even though it could mean cheaper, cleaner energy.

Images of Resistance -inside and outside of Iraq-

category international | arts and media | press release author Monday May 19, 2008 11:43author by Michael Gallagher - Documentary Photographersauthor email libertypics at yahoo dot ieauthor phone (353) (0) 86 404 8249 Report this post to the editors

Photography exhibition fund raisers.

'Images of Resistance -inside and outside of Iraq', is the title of of an anti war photography exhibition that will be shown in the lead up to the US presidential election from October 1st - November 4th 2008, in the Gallery 1199, Manhattan, New York.

Dublin some time in July. Details posted here soon.

The main purposes of the exhibition -through the medium of print and slide/dvd photography with audio commentary- is to help raise consciousness and awareness in the public of the opposition to wars, the plight of the people in war torn countries, the real reasons behind wars, the effects of war and the situations soldiers find themselves in. I am in contact with soldiers serving or who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan etc, who's photography will form part of the documentary. We also have some images from Palestine etc included.

Dennis Halliday (who resigned because of the lies from the Bush administration during 'the weapons of mass destruction controversy), the former UN Assistant Secretary-General and ex-UN Humanitarian Co-ordinator for Iraq and/or former US Attorney General, (under the LBJ administration) Ramsay Clarke, will be giving of their time to open the exhibition.
The costs to stage the work including printing, framing, travel expenses etc, will be at least €7,000.

We are trying to organise three fund raisers to help with some of the costs, we don't expect a positive response from the arts council grant application.

The events will be -during a short showing of some of the work in Dublin before New York- a lecture on the work and travels by one or more of the photographers, a table quiz and hopefully a music/comedy gig. A lot of the work was destroyed after a burglary in my former flat.
If you can help out in any way with sponsorship, names of potential sponsors, a donation, or a dig out with the fund raisers, advice etc, we would be very grateful. A detailed list of costs can be had on request.

I have uploaded a small selection of some of the 50-70 images under consideration, more can be seen through the links on my site below.

Many thanks for your time. Kind regards.

Michael.
