When a man in Dublin stabs a police officer while shouting "Allahu Akbar" you can be pretty sure it's not the work of an indigenous Irishman. So why are the media at pains to pretend it is, asks Andrew Devine.

Is there a special reason for marking the 90th anniversary of the Russian Revolution? I got the impression that the revolution ultimately failed and the Soviet Union collapsed 72 years later.

Of course the laugh is that this is organised by the tankies, the CPI that supported the crushing of 1956 uprising in Hungary and the later invasion of Czechslovakia.

Eugene McCartan and Communist Party friends are totalitarians and know zero about what socialism really is. They defended Stalin to the hilt. Will they organise a similar commemoration of their (former?) hero Josef Stalin?
