Youth Film Competition - Bantry Youth Cafe, West Cork.

Your Planet - Your Future

A chance to let young people make their views known about the environmental issues we face.

'Your Planet – Your Future'

The environment is the issue of the moment – from Al Gore's successful film to talks on Climate change at the G8 summit in Germany, and everyone talking about ecological footprints and carbon credits. However most of the people involved in these discussions won't be around to live through the impacts of their descions. As a teenager you may have strong views on how the world should be but without a vote how do you make your views known? This competition is an oppurtunity to make your views known and let the decision makers know how you think it should be done. Because at the end of the day you will be the ones living here in the future.Your film could be highlighting an issue that is imporatnt to you, be it local or global, it could be suggesting a technology that will help us through running out of oil, or just how you would like to see the world in the future. Whatever it may be we want to see and hear your ideas for our planet and the environment.

"Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children."

There will be a film showing of the shortlisted entries on Saturday the 25th of August in The Attic. The film showing will tie in with SUSTAIN West Cork Sustainability festival being held in Bantry from the 24th till the 26th of August 2007.

Films must be no more than 5 minutes in length and submitted in DVD format.

Entrants must be aged between 14 and 19 years of age.
