An absolutely superb weekend in the beautiful surrounds of North West Mayo.
Fair play to all who attended over the weekend-to the camp residents for all their hard work,to the Bitchin Kitchen crew for keeping us all fed and watered,to the Tir na gCasta crew for bringing their sound rig down and keepin us dancin til dawn,Revolt Video for the vids,Jose and Maggie for their talks and to F for organising the bus from Dublin.
Shell will ot break our spirit and solidarity no matter what tactics they use-they may have the financial might but we have the moral and mental strength to resist their attempt at extending their already massive global tradition of theft and oppression to our shores.
Great pics William and SovietPop-one for the annals.
Onward!
Solidarity!
Solidarity will eat Shell up!
Great pictures William and the one on sovietpops link are fantastic too. Manage to sum up the weekend brilliantly. Well done to everyone on the camp for organising such a fantastic weekend, to the speakers (esp. Jose, was everybody taking notes on how to build a revolution?) and the locals for their hospitality and the efforts they made to explain the situation to us.
Just over 51 weeks to the next solidarity camp!
Start stocking up on sunblock and midge repellant!
Lovelly pictures William.

Great weekend - amazing pics william
i dunno about the beetles being so harmless - irritating little feckers

Great work done: to the community who stood up, to those that stood up alongside them. Is it the camp the best example of a "sustainable community" existing presently in Ireland? and with offers to set up a community garden from the hostel up the road.......
Fair play to all the thought and work that has gone into making the solidarity camp one of the most amazing places ive been, im convinced we'll win, and why shouldn't this be the spark that wakes up the world. 5000 years ago people knew what mattered and lived accordingly on this little island, i have hope that it will still be like that in another 5000.
So, maybe now we will start to see some stepping up of things around the country, perhaps "operation splish splash splosh" might take on a new lease of life - if so watch out shell, you can go to HELL.

Jose Sagarnaga travelled from London to Rossport for the weekend. He showed a documentary about privatisation of water, gas and other natural resources in his native Bolivia. Recently-elected president Evo Morales has promised to renationalise the gas, but according to Jose, it's much more complicated than that: it's not quite as good as it sounds (no time to go into it all right now).

Rossport is in the background in the photo of Jose. The camp is in fact quite far from Rossport by road; it is located in the sand-dunes next to Glengad Beach where Shell and co want to bring the pipe ashore. It would then cross the estuary to Rossport (the estuary is barely visible in the photo of Jose).
