A new Nature paper claims to pin liability for 'climate damages' on oil companies so they can be sued in court. This escalation in the climate wars is scientifically bogus and economically disastrous, says Dr Tilak Doshi.

Eyewitness Report on a Continent in Revolt

The Socialist Party, Socialist Party T.D. Joe Higgins and Socialist Party Councillors are hosting a speaking tour next week for a prominent socialist activist from Brazil, André Ferrari. André Ferrari is a member of the National Executive of the Party for Socialism and Liberty, P-SOL.

André Ferrari is a member of the National Executive of the Party for Socialism and Liberty, P-SOL. This party was founded in 2004 after a substantial number of activists and four federal Members of the Brazilian Parliament left the Workers’ Party (PT) of President Lula (Luis Ignacio da Silva) because of the betrayal of that party of the working class, landless and poor who put Lula into power. President Lula’s closest colleagues are currently mired in a corruption scandal of immense proportions and the Government is implementing neo-liberal economic policies.

The last number of years have seen huge movements of the working class and peasants throughout Latin America in opposition to massive attacks on their living standards by governments there. At a time when these very same measures are being implemented here in ireland in An Post and Irish Ferries to name two, Latin America which has experienced the bulk of these neo-liberal attacks has been in revolt for years.

Andre Ferrari has participated in many of these struggles. His eyewitness account of these struggles and developments will be heard at the public meetings.

Andre Ferrari is also a member of Socialismo Revolucionario (sister organisation in Brazil of the Socialist Party in ireland). He will be speaking in Limerick, Dublin and Belfat at the following dates and venues:

Limerick:
Monday, November 28th
Glentworth Hotel, Glentworth Street, 8pm

Dublin:
Tuesday, November 29th
Wynn’s Hotel, Lwr, Abbey St, 8pm

Belfast:
Wednesday, November 30th
Socialist Party Office, 13 Lombard Street, 8pm
