Catholic Archbishop goes down in Gay Sex video scandal.

category international | worker & community struggles and protests | news report author Wednesday August 24, 2005 18:01author by stir it up. Report this post to the editors

Argentina found itself one the South American states whose government was criticised by the Vatican by the new Benedict XVI prelature earlier this year for supporting a condom campaign to fight aids.

Some Catholics now believe the sex scandal which broke this week is politically motivated.

Archbishop Maccarone's resignation was accepted last friday for "health or other serious reasons" by the Vatican, after a video surfaced showing him in an act of intimacy with a 23 year old man, who he had promised to assist in his search for work.

The church alledge that leftist elements were behind the scandal noting that the felatio video is now no sale over the internet.

Alfredo Serrano has spoken to the media about his relations with the bishop and confirmed that no money changed hands, but that he has sold the video (for 50,000$), which he made to avenge himself after he became convinced that he wasn't going to get a job. He describes himself as a good catholic and affirms that the archbishop reassured him that he was very good catholic.

The argentine state are worried that a political motive be seen in the incident, and have been quick to distance their condoms for AIDS campaign from the video, in which a condom was not used.

"In 2002, Argentine courts opened an investigation of a leading priest on charges of sexual abuse of minors after a book linked him with several cases. Archbishop Edgardo Gabriel Storni denied the charges, but the investigation continues.

A year later, Father Julio Cesar Grassi, one of the most popular priests thanks to his television appearances, was also implicated in a sexual misconduct case involving youngsters. That case is also still being investigated.

The Vatican, in a brief statement on Friday, had said it had accepted Maccarone`s resignation, but made no mention of the cause."

This ineed is not the first sex scandal to rock the church, nor will it be the last,.

A Texas man opened suit against a Catholic priest in St. Louis Circuit Court Tuesday, claiming the priest sexually abused him 35 years ago.
The man is now in his 50s and filed the civil suit as "John Doe." He claims that the Rev. James Pavlik counseled him after he "got in some trouble with the law" and invited him to spend the night in the rectory. Pavlik then fondled the teen's genitals, according to the suit.

At the time of the alleged abuse, Pavlik was a pastor at St. John Nepomuk Church, 1625 South 11th Street in St. Louis, according to Tony Huenneke, a spokesman for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

The suit also names the archdiocese and Archbishop Raymond Burke, (an irish born prelate) saying archdiocesan officials knew about Pavlik's history of abusing minors and "acted with depraved hearts" by failing to prevent his future access to others.

took to the streets today in the Argentine city of Santiago del Ester to support the archbishop who went down, and to denounce the sexual acts of homosexual felatio and rubbing bits and to reaffirm their belief that the archbishop didn't do that, it was all a wicked socialist plot.
There were a lot of priests present and they are very upset about the video, claiming the plotters should have respected the privacy of such intimate acts, and naturally that a public figure who belongs to a global belief system that prohibits such acts ought not be exposed as a hypocrite by a 50,000$ video.

& they're right. It ought be a free download.

About twenty (?) years ago when a priest based in Sutton or Baldoyle was under investigation for child abuse, many of the local faithful reacted in much the same way. It was just a communist plot then too, as far as they were concerned. Rather than being shocked that a priest would do such a thing they did the ostrich mentality thing and blamed the accusers for the problem.
Some things never change.

I wrote a letter to the Irish Examiner in Sept. 2003,condemning the rape and sexual abuse of children by many (not all) Catholic clerics.
Boy! Oh Boy! didn't that letter unleash vitriolic attack on me, murder threats, rocks and stones thrown at my front door,late-night anonymous calls with such cheerful messages that I was going straight down to HELL, that I was "against my country and against the Church - that being the R.C.one. anoymous letters accusing me of fabrication when the evidence is there on public record and in police files all over the world etc etc..Phew! so much that I applied for asylum in Holland. This vicious, cowardly attack on me by extremist catholics, for simply expressing my outrage, smacks of the KU Klux Klan...not one of these christians came out in the open...they were too craven cowardly. By their actions, ye shall know them.

That's interesting, Michael. It fits the pattern. Any more details on that?

It is so sickening to see RC authorities continuing their dirty heinous cover up of child rape. Why aren't they arrested. Now we see the FBI arresting white collar criminals in FIFA for corruption. That pales in comparison to the rape of children by clerics and subsequent cover up by their superiors. Let us go back to the Apostle Matthew who quoted Jesus (I paraphrase) "Anyone who corrupts these little ones it were better a millstone be tied around his neck and he be cast into the sea."

So are dog collared criminals who commit these most evil crimes immune to criminal prosecution. I appeal to the FBI and Police. Forces around the world to do the right thing- arrest these scum and bring them to face justice. We have the ICC right.
Why oh Why are they left go scot free! Add the Magdalen laundries to the charges.. Also the bones of nearly 800 Irish children found deposited in a septic tank in Co. Galway. The offspring of unmarried mothers..these babies were snatched from their mothers to be raised by catholic. Nuns in 'Homes' where they were underfed and deliberately starved to death. This is up there with any Nazi atrocity.
