Suha Arafat, Yasser's wife will have the final say on switching off his life support machine which may keep him alive indefinitely and proves a sticky point for Islamic medical ethics. If allowed to die naturally or if he dies through the withdrawl of treatment he will be buried according to muslim tradition within a day. It is expected his grave will be located in either Ramalah or Gaza.
And as if to suggest that he didnt necessarily support Bush as a person, Bertie was keen to add that a Kerry victory could have damaged the Irish ecenomy!
(big man doesn't say much)
qualified his congrats to the White House with a hope that peace would come soon from the strategic policy makers and naturally germans would be delighted faun faun slurp to play their part in all that. but only like you know if they were asked and allowed and they dont want to get in the way or anything (did he get that right)
seems he going reduce corporate tax so much companies are going to go back to america, so the Taoiseach statement is defunct
does anyone know if Bertie actually got to speak to President Bush or just "conveyed" his message sort of like this-
"hello, this is the white house, sorry but no-one is available to take your call at the moment, you could try the ranch, or leave a message after the tone".
"hello there, this is Bertie Ahern of Ireland, little place you spent a few days here earlier in the year, while doing Europe, you remember I was the president, (only of Europe sure), anyway, I'd like to congratulate you, and as you know we're all very happy in Ireland that we're not going to be losing money like we would with that fecker Kerry. And we've done our very best to supress those photos of you in your lingerie at the pisspot".
I'm only asking, coz over here in BCN we're all getting quite interested in the fact that Bush still hasn't returned Zapatero's phone call. We haven't quite gone front page with it, but like when Bush can find 40 minutes to hold a private chat with Aznar, it seems only right and proper and normal to return Zapatero's phone call and demonstrate that the relationship is frozen, and at least reassure people that Zapatero won't be having sleeping problems or losing sleep (which ever is appropriate in modern democratic civil politics) [ =I dunno u tell me].
It turns out that President Bush still talks to Chirac, but through an interpreter and as little as he can.
We presume Chirac talks back at him.

Thank you, ... you will now hear four options, if you are a head of state of any member of the coalition of the willing press "1" now.
If you are head of state of any country of Old Europe please hang up-....You haven't hung up yet have you?
If you are a head of state of any autocratic, theocratic oil based dictatorship please press "3" and your call will automatically be forwarded to the ranch mobile.
If you are a former head of state of any country who has recently been voted out of office for lying to your people and involving them in a most unpopular war with the subsequent bombing of your capital city, please come round for a burger shake and fries next week.
.........
Sorry, we have not understood your request, perhaps you don't know which category you are in.
You are currently held in a queue and an intern will deal with your inquiry soon.
