you have posted this PRESS RELEASE under the NEWS REPORT/IRISH SOCIAL FORUM section. If you're not going to bother making the effort to section things correctly I'm going to be deleting them in the future. Mis-sectioning stories means that you are removing the ability of readers to filter out story categories that they're not interested in. Take some time to learn how to cooperate with other site users please.

You are a stupid petty little person. Being an IMC EDITOR must give some meaning to your otherwise pitiful existence.

I dont think NYPD Marching Band and this 'New York Police Band' are the same thing.
But why are the deaths of the hunger strikers being celebrated? Did they not know that they would die if they didnt eat? If not, I'm sure they were told by prison staff..no?
If a person has the inteligence to dedicate themselves to a movement but do not have the inteligence to eat, did they really deserve to live? F*#king idiots if you ask me!

In Gaelic civilisation there was a custom of "fasting against your enemy" to shame them into complying with their wishes. It's a good tactic and highly effective in propaganda terms.

Robert Emmet called off the 1803 rising once things got out of hand and innocent people were killed. So what do the Omagh bomb fan club have in common with him?

author by Tiocfaidh Armani - Na Fianna Eireannpublication date Fri Aug 29, 2003 14:59author email info at fiannaeireann dot comauthor address Dublinauthor phone Report this post to the editors

Emmett was a true Republican, whos rising decended into anarchy But it was his ideals and Republican spirit, in later years that made him so famous. It was not just the fact he was the leader of a rising, because the 1803 rising was a disaster.
You must be a Republican to understand these ideals and spirit. Most people on this are Free Staters, believe me, he has more in common with us, the Free Staters on this!
He would turn in his grave, to see so many Irish people accept Britains right to even one inch of Irish soil.
" Take it down from the mast Irish traitors, it the flag we Republicans claim, it will never belong to Free Staters, you have brought on us nothing but shame.........."

My point was that his republican spirit included the recognition that innocent people should not be killed in pursuit of the republic and that if this happened a cease fire was required. Read his address from the dock, he spent a lot of time explaining this.

author by Tiocfaidh Armani - Na Fianna Eireannpublication date Fri Aug 29, 2003 20:10author email info at fiannaeireann dot comauthor address Dublinauthor phone Report this post to the editors

Of course a great man like Emmett would not believe in killing innocent people, to advance your cause. But said we do?
He was a not stupid man and realised that having a rising in the heavily populated city like Dublin, in the city centre, there would have being innocent lives lost. But as i already stated on this, innocent people will die in an armed struggle. He realised that and so have we. Its an unfortunate fact.

Is that someone like Rober Emmet would have long realised that the time for armed struggle in Ireland is long gone. He had a brain, see?.
