Church leaders are too quick to condemn Tommy Robinson and the Unite the Kingdom march, says Chris Larkin. We don't know what Jesus would have made of our politics, but we can?t just assume he?d have been a Lib Dem voter.

Does anyone know how Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council voted tonight - I can't find anything in the main stream media?

"WHO IS THE REAL ENEMY ??????"

I am not claiming that the SWP are enemies of the workign class. Most people involved in the SWP are genuine. What I am saying is that the SWP's tactics are more often than not mistaken and in effect can lead to hampering many campaigns. To hide any legitimate critisisms of different strands of the workers movement is not in the interests of the movement. If any group is mistaken and incorrect it is the duty of people to point this out and argue our differences in a comradely and constructive. Not doing this in the interests of 'anti sectarianism' could actually harm the movement

Hang on "Mr. Lets drop any critisism of the SWP in the name of left unity". The campaign has been going there for many years and there are alot of genuine people involved. But the SWP have on the whole not played a genuine role, they simply jump on the issue when there is no war or WEF going on. They are not serious and are completely incapable about building any genuine campaign that is not just a recruitment front. MArk my workds if the SWP do start to take this campaign seriously they will soon be kicked out by the genuine types involved when they try to turn it into a recruitment fair.

By the way.. the campaign has not 'won'. The councillors have simply rejected the two plans for TECHNICAL reasons, they are still intent on bringing in PFI to develop the baths.

Does anyone know if there is a campaign website? -Thanks

This petty sniping really is boring. A victory against the neo-liberal agenda and big developers is used to attack the SWP. Says a lot about indymedia!!

WHO IS THE REAL ENEMY ??????

This campaign has been going for some 4 years. The SWP has been organising in the area for a long time - we organised a big march against the marina in Dun Laoghaire harbour, two marches of 600+ and 1000+ against the sale of Dun Laoghaire Baths to private developers in the last 3 years.

Get involved in the campaign if you want to help. Phone Richard Boyd Barrett 087 632 9511

The SWP are obviously trying to get some cred off this whole issue in between the more glamourous recruiting fests such as the war and WEF.

But does anybody actually think that the SWP will stick with the issue once the silly season is over? Call me a cynic but I don't think they will and yet again they will discredit the left and harm a campaign that soem people actually care about.

9 O'Clock news on RTÉ said the council rejected both proposals. It seemed they were for technical reasons not because they have had a sudden change of heart re PFI
