The Sugar Tax Sums Up Our Descent into Technocratic Dystopia Thu May 08, 2025 19:00 | Dr David McGrogan
The sugar tax sums up Britain's descent into a technocratic dystopia, says Dr David McGrogan. While our Government does almost nothing well, it remains a world-leader in passive-aggressive, surreptitious nudging.

Australia?s Liberal Party Only Has Itself to Blame for its Crushing Defeat by Labour Thu May 08, 2025 15:30 | Dr James Allan
As in Canada, so in Australia, the crushing defeat of the conservative Liberal Party by Labour has been widely blamed on Trump. But in truth, Peter Dutton and his team only have themselves to blame, says Prof James Allan.

Jump To Comment: 1Welcome to our 2003 Programme
One of the most wonderful and exciting things for any gardener is to witness the germination of a seed that will develop into an edible or decorative plant. At The Organic Centre, we produce plenty of vegetables from seed, but it could be said that we’re also trying to plant seeds through our courses and activities: seeds that can change peoples quality of life while being gentle on the environment through:
Gardening and farming organically, keeping soil fertile through rotation and composting.
Building ecological housing using renewable materials and progressive waste management systems.
Considering sustainable energy sources.
Relearning lost skills and crafts.
Creating a conscientious lifestyle with recycling, energy saving, local shopping and green tourism.
Our courses and activities aim to be both educational and enjoyable. In response to your feedback, we have expanded, revised and added a few courses to our programme. Our open gardens continue to develop and are well worth a visit, especially in the summer and we have made our educational tours more informative.
We are very grateful for the support from our friends, sponsors and the many voluntary workers at the centre. A special thanks to all our visiting lecturers, who have helped us to provide such a great variety of courses, and last but not least, thank you to Bord Glas who have sponsored this booklet for the third year running.
