URGENT: Take 2 minutes to influence Local Area Plan today, its free and closes tomorrow 16 Jan.

category cork | environment | news report author Sunday January 15, 2017 23:38author by chase - Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment Report this post to the editors

Please take 2 minutes to have your say in how you want to see the Harbour developed, and encourage friends/family to do likewise.

Cork County Council sets out its land use planning strategy for the development of the towns and villages of the county in a series of Municipal District Local Area Plans, which are currently under review.

The Ballincollig-Carrigaline Local Area Plan covers the area surrounding the proposed incinerator site in Ringaskiddy, is directly relevant to the future of the Harbour area and has invited submissions. Submissions are FREE and can be made online, but the system will close at 4pm tomorrow, Monday 16th January 2017.

Make a submission: http://corklocalareaplans.com

Direct link to form: Click here: https://corkcc-self.achieveservice.com/en/AchieveForms/...28936 and click ‘next’ or click the ‘your submission details’ tab.

Requirements to consider including in your comments are:

A Buffer zone of 200m around the Martello Tower commencing from the external wall at the bottom of the slope.
Another 200m buffer zone around the “Old right of way” (not the new pathway).
These buffers to be marked on the zoning map RY-I-15 for Ringaskiddy.
Preservation for the line of sight should be preserved between the Martello Tower and the other 4 forts in the harbour.
A “larger” bird sanctuary in the Ringaskiddy peninsula under the EU SPA directive should be part of the Cork development plan.
A buffer zone should be part of the development plan for our coastline to protect the visual impact of our beautiful harbour for present and future generations.

For a longer overview, see more here: https://www.facebook.com/RingaskiddyRightsOfWayCommissi...951:0 from Ringaskiddy Rights of Way Commission. All local County Councillors will also have information and have highlighted the need for involvement.

Cork County Council, on their dedicated website for Local Area Plans have said:

In order to make sure we have the best plan, it is important that the people who will be affected by the plan get involved in the making of the plan and have a say in how their area develops.

Therefore the Council is inviting submissions on the Draft Plans and any other matters which the public/stakeholders consider relevant to the future planning strategy for their area. All written submissions received by the closing date will be considered in the making of the new Draft Local Area Plans. Submissions will be detailed in the Chief Executive’s Report to be submitted to the Elected Members in March 2017
.

It takes 2 minutes, it’s FREE, can be done online but must be done before 4pm tomorrow 16 January 2017, and could make an enormous difference to Cork Harbour for future generations.
