The Bolivarian Revolution

Announcement of Public Lecture organised by The Munster Council of the Communist Party of Ireland.
The Bolivarian Revolution
The Bolivarian Revolution

Venezuela – The Bolivarian Revolution
In 1998 Hugo Chavez was elected President of Venezuela, the fourth largest supplier of petroleum in the world. This event began a process of democratic changes, known as the Bolivarian Revolution, and challenged the hegemony of the United States throughout the entire continent. The United States and the Venezuelan right have done everything to undermine the Venezuelan government since then, most blatantly in the coup d’etat of 2002. Following the death of President Chavez earlier this year the anti-democratic policies of subversion and dirty tricks has continued against President Maduro.
Seán Edwards first visited Venezuela in 2003, the year after the coup d’état, retuning several times and becoming an enthusiastic student and supporter of the changes taking place there.
On the 23rd November he will be in Connolly Hall at 3.00 pm to deliver a public lecture on his understanding of the developments in Venezuela. Admission is free.
