Double blow to hare coursing as Specsavers AND Diageo dissociate themselves from the practise...their banners will never again be displayed on Limerick racecourse when hare coursing take place on that venue...this development comes soon after coursing fans were caught attempting to rig an online opinion poll to boost the perceived level of public support for the cruel practise Following two information items from Irish Council Against Blood Sports Website (March 23rd 2012) |

Jump To Comment: 3 2 1That pic is from mid 1980s...not that its date matters. The events card for EVERY hare coursing event still carries the warning "All unauthorised photography strictly prohibited". Anyone wishing to film or photograph the cruelty at a coursing meeting has to be very careful indeed. Heavies are deployed to keep an eye on anyone who might take the "wrong" kind of picture or film footage. Pro-coursing camera men (and women) attend but are themselves monitored by the coursing supervisors. They have strict orders to turn the camera away once the hare is being mauled or tossed about. Officials watch over them even as they develop the film. From time to time though, even the pro-coursing photographers slip up and actually take pictures that expose the cruelty of their "sport". Such pictures probably offer the best evidence against hare coursing because it comes from the coursing folk themselves.

Great to see those two pulling the plug on a a horrible bloodsport. Anyone who can't see the cruelty in hare coursing...well, they should've gone to Specsavers!
