The 9 anti-war activists who occupied the arms manufacturer raytheon's offices and destroyed its computers have been acquitted by a jury in Belfast.
Derry Anti War Coalition calls on the office of the Attorney General and the Crown Prosecution Service, in light of the jury's verdict of 'not guilty' to criminal damage charges, to institute an investigation into the activities of raytheon at its various plants across the UK, with a view to determining whether raytheon is a criminal enterprise. read full story / add a comment

On Sunday afternoon, a group of anti-war and human rights campaigners walked the 15 miles from the historic Treaty Stone in Limerick to Shannon airport, scene of Ireland’s complicity in war and torture. There they joined members of Amnesty International, Coisantoiri Siochana and others who had come to attend the monthly Shannon vigil. The vigil was, as always, a peaceful remembrance of all who have died, disappeared or been tortured as a result of the senseless “war on terror”. It was also a reminder to our Irish public representatives that their failure to question US military and CIA use of the airport is shameful and intolerable. read full story / add a comment ![]()

The raytheon 9 are an inspiration. I just got a phone call from my friend Les who's trying to get a plane ticket to get to Belfast for the raytheon 9 trial. Les hasn't been to Northern Ireland since he did three tours with the British military. He says is it is so exciting that socialists and republicans are experimenting with nonviolent direct action and he wants to be there to support them at the trial. He says that this would be a great way for him to return to Northern Ireland - confront his past and celebrate a future with a community in resistance to war. read full story / add a comment

UK government spending £14 billion on building a huge, privatised Military Academy in Wales to train the latest recruits to the 'war on terror' and any foreign militaries prepared to pay for the privilege. Paid for by our taxes, the profits will pour into the coffers of the arms companies like raytheon hired to run it. For more info. And the 4 main parties in Wales support it. read full story / add a comment
