Capital implies the political state. As capital develops the state is correspondingly developed. There obtains an internal unity between capital and state. Buried within capital is the state –state capital. As capital develops the state issues out of it. It is a mistaken abstraction to focus on capitalist development to the exclusion of the state.

The state is a central concept in the political philosophy of Anarchism. Anarchism is often defined as being an anti-state ideology. While this is sometimes a useful way to distinguish anarchists from other state socialists it also leads to a fair bit of confusion. We will look at the source of this confusion with the aim of showing that anarchism is in its essence opposed to rulers and is not a naive or idealistic form of anti-statism. read full story / add a comment

Mash Direct: Northern Ireland food company that hosted Prime Minister accused of denying rights to employees.

It was with astonishment that many employees of Mash Direct read the headlines of Newtownards Chronicle (27/05/2010) following the stately visit by Prime Minister David Cameron to the food production factory in Comber, County Down where they routinely spend 60 hours or more of their week. Manager Martin Hamilton spoke eloquently of the growth of the firm through, ‘determination and hard work’ and said nothing of the determination of those who do the hard work to have their basic employment rights upheld within his expanding business.

At this critical juncture it is important that all who seek an end to Zionist hegemony focus on the critical structures underpinning the regime. Even a cursory examination of Israeli trade statistics reveals the importance of the diamond industry to the Israeli economy. Israel dominates the global diamond market and is, by a significant margin, its largest beneficiary with net diamond exports amounting to $10 billion in 2008. read full story / add a comment
