This list was compiled by Dr Mazin Qumsiyeh, of the Palestinian Center for Rapprochement Between People, in Beit Sahour, Bethlehem. I have been working with them here, and they hope this will give people some idea as to what action they can take in the face of recent events in Gaza, and the ongoing conflict in Palestine. 2008 has been a year of ups and downs for the Shell to Sea campaign, however generally the last months of the year have been very positive. This is a brief review of the year and a call-out for people to get involved next year when we expect a big push from Shell and the Government to again try to force this project through. At the moment, we are planning on the assumption that a pipe-laying ship (Solitaire or otherwise) will be back anytime from spring next year, to try to finally lay the offshore pipeline. read full story / add a comment

The relentless drive to agglomerate control within a revamped European Union has lost none of its force, despite being pronounced clinically dead by the Irish people on June 12th in a referendum it's government could not avoid hosting. Dead set on simply ignoring the will of the people as demonstrated clearly in resounding No votes in France, Holland and Ireland, the Eurocracy continues to scheme hell-bent on manipulating its desired outcome.

June 12th was a victory of the people over profit, but the battle has only just begun. Will democracy prevail? Or will that historic 'No' vote prove to be democracy's last gasp? Make no mistake: whatever you understand 'democracy' to be, it is at stake here.

But here's the rub: there are some amongst us who invert 'democracy' and all nominally social ideals into their corrupted opposites. Why is that? Are we not all singing from the same hymn-sheet? Apparently not... read full story / add a comment

From white hot anger to silent, sometimes sobbing, despairing empathy, one is torn apart over here, from being an unwilling participant in, what amounts to, a snuff movie to witnessing and hearing about Israeli barbarism, where medieval torture is visited on a helpless people with the world as voyeur and where the coup de grace is never administered, but threatened in a "bigger Shoah" than Israel's, one doesn't have an alternative but to grow stronger for Palestine. read full story / add a comment
