Mary Hanafin, has published 'The Report and Recommendations for a Traveller Education Strategy'- which envisages cutting out education capitation grants in order to mainstream traveller kids. 'Mainstreaming' is a term familiar to a lot of Irish Parents who have children with educational special needs, and it doesn't work in terms of choice or individual need. If a high dose of radiation element, Polonium 210, can be a tool of quick assassination, lower doses (as in typical cigarettes) are no less tools of homicide. Ask health officials, et al, why Po-210 is still permitted in cigarettes, with zero warning to anyone. Ask why smokers and Pub Proprietors bear the burdens of law, but the cig makers, ingredient suppliers, and complicit regulators go free. read full story / add a comment

Loyalist Michael Stone’s attempt to disrupt Stormont’s proceedings demonstrates the critical need for a renewed commitment towards peace by all parties and governments involved in the recent assembly talks. The convicted killer brazenly stormed into the Stormont building where politicians were debating the restoration of the assembly. Take Back the night was a campaign instigated by two women to do just that. Reclaim women's Spaces and safety in cities and university campuses. Take Back the Tech believes that violence Against Women occurs on the internet because of unequal power relationships between women and men. It's anti-patriarchial. Contributions are welcome from men who have also suffered in Patriarchical systems- and there are many.
