The National Irish Freedom Committee has been helping publicise the struggle in Rossport for quite some time now and we are the only Irish organisation here in America that has been vocal in our support of the community in Mayo, and have used our resources to help keep our members and other concerned people informed about what is going on there. read full story / add a comment

After the Cyprus mauling the fans called for the sacking of Steve Staunton. The FAI got rid of Brian Kerr while Mick McCarty ran under the pressure of his failings. So is it time we forgot about blaming those the FAI appointed as international soccer managers and look towards the FAI as the continuing reasons for the decline in our international football team and the long departed good old days of glory. read full story / add a comment

The attempted construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline and onshore refinery in Rossport by the consortium of Shell, Statoil and Marathon has been resisted since 2001. Through the constant vigilance of the locals and activists in the solidarity camp, any attempts to access the site to work have been blockaded. If you've been living under a rock for the last while here's a rundown of the situation, the safety of the Rossport community will be at risk from contamination of their drinking water, environmental pollution, articulated vehicles on tiny bog roads and last, but not least, the potentially explosive pipe less than 80m from some of their houses! read full story / add a comment

Mags O’ Donoghue, Chairperson of the West Cork Parents Action Group and her fellow committee members are mighty women when it comes to organising information evenings and workshops for parents of children with special education needs. On Thursday 29th September WCPAG had another line up of interesting and informative speakers at a well-attended event at the Parkway Hotel in Dunmanway. It’s fair to say that WCPAG are making a significant impact on the level of awareness of our children’s’ educational and other needs and that parents, professionals, service providers and teachers in West Cork have much to be grateful to them for. read full story / add a comment

'The silent majority of locals SUPPORT Shell's gas refinery and believe that it will be SAFE. What's more, they've been victims of a TERRIFYING campaign of bullying and intimidation - much of it led by Sinn Fein THUGS. Got that everyone? That's SUPPORT SHELL, SAFE. SINN FEIN TERRIFYING THUGS. Palmer has carefully crafted a version of events to suggest that it is the multi-billion dollar international oil interests, the huge police force in the area and the business- led political establishment who are the beleagured and innocent victims in the situation. Really? read full story / add a comment
