international / arts and media / opinion/analysis Thursday May 27, 2004 23:01 by iosaf the ipsiphi
D Day normandy you know about. Day before General Strike thingy and a big cheery very sincere fuck off Bush message. Everyone else "on the stand" will be "used to this". & Everyone else will somehow come across as being more "sensitive", "aware", "dignified" and "sussed" as to the "importance" of "Delta Day". Even the Irish whose forebears didn't see what all the fuss was about will try and cluck cluck just like Minister Mc Dowell does now. Nothing much has changed. Everything has changed. The last time Bush spent the night out of the USA he spent it in the impregnable castle of Hillsborough in the Queen of England's own private Northern Ireland. "our wee north". I'm not telling you where he's gonna stay in France. read full story / add a comment

I today lodged a formal complaint with the Irish Competition Authority and the EU Directorate General for Competition regarding excessive pricing, following Diageo's announcement to increase the price of Guinness. The multinational drinks company announced yesterday that they would increase the wholesale price of Guinness in Ireland by 6c as of next Tuesday, 1 June 2004. I would encourage people to write, email and phone the authorities, who are supposed to protect consumers from such behaviour by large corporations. read full story / add a comment
