Just been glancing through the Sinn Féin motions list for their conference this weekend. There are a couple of interesting ones in it. One motion states that the party will not go into coalition without any deal having an absolute commitment of opposition to privatisation. Another calls for complete opposition to the Social Partnership PROCESS, whereas before they've only ever opposed the deals, not the process. A motion from the party's youth wing calls for a boycott of the WEF, and two motions deal with both suppoting the Coca Cola boycott and refusing any further donations. Will be very interesting to see which of these are passed, if any, and what the response of grassroots SF members will be if they're not. On the other hand, if they're passed, does it indicate a move to the Left? read full story / add a comment

Seven workers – all from the same department have been suspended for taking part in a work to rule. Four of the seven are shop stewards. This is clearly an attempt to break the union, NIPSA, and the resolve of its members in the CSA. read full story / add a comment |
