Following the temporary withdrawal of the International Solidarity Movement from Hebron due to that organisations difficulty in finding a suitable base there, a number of internationals from the village of Bil'in journeyed down there last week to take up the slack with night patrols, checkpoint monitoring and especially the safeguarding of Palestinian children to and from school from stone throwing, spitting Israeli "settler children and adults. Four in number, we found accomodation in the homes of the Al-Awawi and Egnabi families,previously fire bombed by the colonising "settlers" and illegally evicted but both families still overflowing with the milk of human kindness despite their travails. read full story / add a comment

At the invitation of Guerrero based ´Tlachinollan Human Rights Centre´ I had the inspiring opportunity to witness an historic event last Wed (18th nov 2009): Two indigenous women, both former Amnesty International prisoners of conscience left their communities once more to make a trip to a Mexican Jail. This time however instead of being accompanied by their arresting officers, they went along with a group of local, national and international human rights organisations to make a solidarity visit to another indigenous activist and Amnesty International prisoner of conscience, Raul Hernandez. read full story / add a comment

Working people hit the streets in huge numbers on November 6th. The protests showed, once again, that there is a willingness to resist the government’s attacks on living standards.
