This evening, Wednesday 11th February, a packed emergency meeting attended by 500 members of Dublin City North Branch of the INTO, held in the Regency Hotel, unanimously passed a resolution calling for a strong campaign of united industrial action across the public service. read full story / add a comment

éirígí chairperson Brian Leeson has called for workers at the Waterford Crystal site to start producing on their own terms as the only way to safeguard their jobs. While the occupation of the site continues, the best bid received for the company so far, from a group called Clarion, would mean the loss of 400 jobs. A US company that has also joined the bidding wants to keep only the Waterford Crystal name and lay off all the workers. read full story / add a comment

Noel Atkins and Pat Phelan, Waterford Crystal workers and Unite Shop Stewards, travelled to Cork last night to speak out against the attempted closure of the plant. They spoke from the heart as workers tossed on the scrap heap after decades of service. read full story / add a comment

Before Christmas of 2007, the Flairline Fashions Group gave a verbal guarantee that they would become fur free by 2008 and would send confirmation in writing to ALiberation. Since then they have continued to sell animal fur. ALiberation are now unsuspending their campaign to persuade the Flairline Fashions Group to become Fur Free. This Saturday an event will be held outside of Pamela Scott on Grafton Street, Dublin to urge the Flairline Fashions Group to stop selling animal fur. This will coincide with the “Worldwide Information Days Against Fur” weekend. read full story / add a comment |
