Mags O’ Donoghue, Chairperson of the West Cork Parents Action Group and her fellow committee members are mighty women when it comes to organising information evenings and workshops for parents of children with special education needs. On Thursday 29th September WCPAG had another line up of interesting and informative speakers at a well-attended event at the Parkway Hotel in Dunmanway. It’s fair to say that WCPAG are making a significant impact on the level of awareness of our children’s’ educational and other needs and that parents, professionals, service providers and teachers in West Cork have much to be grateful to them for. read full story / add a comment

'The silent majority of locals SUPPORT Shell's gas refinery and believe that it will be SAFE. What's more, they've been victims of a TERRIFYING campaign of bullying and intimidation - much of it led by Sinn Fein THUGS.

Got that everyone? That's SUPPORT SHELL, SAFE. SINN FEIN TERRIFYING THUGS.

Palmer has carefully crafted a version of events to suggest that it is the multi-billion dollar international oil interests, the huge police force in the area and the business- led political establishment who are the beleagured and innocent victims in the situation. Really?

A large group of Shell to Sea supporters blockaded the Donnybrook Shell garage this evening for the best part of two hours. There was a a heavy garda presence that attempted unsuccessfully to break the blockade and in the end only drew more attention to the protest. Members of Anarchist Youth, Labour Youth, UCD Students Union, republicans, Irish language speakers and a large number of non aligned activists took part in the blockade. read full story / add a comment

A public meeting will be held in response to the latest allocation of exploration licenses in the Donegal, Slyne and Erris Basins. Donegal citizens are angry that licenses for their offshore natural resources have been given to multinational companies without any consultation and with very little benefit for the County. The meeting will be held on Wednesday the 11th October at 8pm in Jackson's Hotel, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal. All Welcome. read full story / add a comment

Wandering down the corridors of the four courts today we were met with a edifying sight. Dozens of John Gill's supporters had turned up. It was around 10.15am and already John Gill had a sizeable number of well-wishers around him.

He was kept busy shaking hands, greeting friends old and new and handing out copies of his affidavit to members of the press (Indy reporters included, indeed we were first to get a copy).
