The second outing of the literary festival, 'The Forge At Gort,' will take place in Gort, Co. Galway, on March 27th and 28th, 2009, organised by The Western Writers' Centre, Ionad Scribhneoiri Chaitlin Maud, Galway. Last year saw the inauguration of the festival, which is based in the concept of the W.B.Yeats' poem which mentions the still extant forge in Gort's main street. The festival included workshops, readings, and a lecture on a Brazilian poet. read full story / add a comment

The theme of the year-long campaign marking the 60th Anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights informs our six-week evening course this term. With a range of titles covering aspects of human rights, the Anniversary is an ideal opportunity for us to engage with filmmakers and human rights practitioners on the significance of this genre of filmmaking. Our course will feature six documentaries, previously unscreened in Ireland. Each evening, a special guest from the world of film or human rights will speak on the film and their own work. (LARNACA, 22 September 2008) - The Free Gaza Movement announced today that an international delegation of doctors, parliamentarians, and human rights workers will sail to Gaza aboard the SS Hope on Wednesday, September 24th. A press conference will be held on Wednesday at Larnaca Port prior to the ship's departure.
