Over 30 years of Community have been crushed by Riot police in the center of London City. St Agnes place squatted community has finaly been evicted. The houses had been empty for almost 15 years in 1974 when a few squatters rebuilt the decaying buildings and created a vibrant rastafarian community complete with it's own temple, a community TV station and a community radio station, social centers, libraries. read full story / add a comment

On 27th September a sleep in protest to highlight the plight of homeless people in Ireland was staged outside Leinster House. Up till then I had no idea of the extent of homelessness in Ireland or how little the state seems to care about people who are homeless. I wrote down my impression of the events that night. What follows is my account of the few hours I spent in solidarity with my fellow citizens who have no place to call home. The only way homelessness will end in Ireland or anywhere else is if the people decide to end it. read full story / add a comment

The fires which killed over 30 people mostly children in Paris this summer, brought impetus to the French migrant support groups, and housing organisations.

Chirac expressed shock and horror. De Villepin's government promised action and a "census" of slum housing where France's african migrants live.

Pretty soon after the police moved into forceably evict the houses on the census list, arresting those within, processing them for deportation and sending them off to the migrant detention centres "for their own good".

Chirac collapsed the same day.

Early this morning a squatted building at 21 rue Maroc (19th arrrond) was evicted in the same style. read full story / add a comment
