Over the weekend, the Government quietly slipped out the news that it's scrapped plans to ban 'conversion therapy'. This is a major victory for free speech and in no small part due to the lobbying of the Free Speech Union.

Limerick Socialist Party Election Campaign Launch

category limerick | politics / elections | news report author Wednesday November 03, 2010 13:01author by Jolly Red Giant - Socialist Party / CWI Report this post to the editors

A packed public meeting in Limerick last night signalled the launch of the Socialist Party's General Election campaign in Limerick.

The meeting heard Cian Prenderville (Limerick Socialist Party Candidate) and Joe Higgins Socialist Party MEP outline the plans of the establishment to force working class people pay for a crisis they didn't create and called for the building of a left alternative to the austerity programme of the establishment parties. Those attending the meeting were clearly angry at the plans of the government and welcomed the decision of the Socialist Party to stand in the general election in Limerick. A substantial some of money was collected to assist funding the campaign, several people joined the Socialist Party after the meeting and a large number of people volunteered to help with the campaign.
