live horse to be exported

The Irish Times reports today that on November 9th, a one-year-old Clydesdale called Claddagh King Bruce will be flown from Dublin to Frankfurt and on to Delhi. It is thought that Claddagh King Bruce will be used for breeding purposes for the horse racing industry and not directly for slaughter

The IT article quotes Austin Colton saying that the colt's owner is "unsure" of why the horse is being bought but "thinks" that it is to be used for breeding purposes to get a sports horse . Colton seems to be either unaware of or indifferent to the fact that selective genetic pairing and breeding, causes racehorses to be born with fragile bodies .Selective breeding does not provide the gene pool with diverse enough genetic material to avoid genetic defects that arise largely as a result of inbreeding.
In India jockeys are allowed to whip a horse up to eight times in the course of a race .

Did anyone really think that a yearling was goin to be FLOWN for slaughter? Does anyone have any idea of the cost of flying horses, get to the real world!!

Cladagh King Bruce, I believe had a very Happy flight - the horse also was and is being used for breeding purposes and not slaughter. The cost is very high to fly a horse to Frankfurt and then on to New Delphi. Reading on the country Living magazine this week, they had an article on the very same horse. In its cartoon page, it had Roddy Molloy ex. Fas chief criticising the airline and the horse owners for having no morals for flying a horse first class. I believe Mary Harney is also critical about the waste of money on this subject.

My view is that King Bruce is entitled to fly first class. At least he will be performing and earning his money morally - unlike the bunch of muppets who were flying first class on taxpayers money to look at spaceships.

Keep riding King Bruce and lucky all the muppets have been grounded for the New Year
