Performance in aid of Dublin Simon Community

Sli Eile Midsummer Madness
presents
Ballymun Gospel Choir and Band
in Concert
(in aid of Dublin Simon Community’s work to end homelessness)
St. Ann’s Church,
Dawson Street, Dublin 1
Saturday 14 June 2008 at 8.00pm

The fantastic Ballymun Gospel Choir and Band will perform a variety of contemporary uplifting songs and well-known Gospel songs that have been arranged specially for them.

This Concert on Saturday 14th June in a Dublin city centre venue highlights the ongoing plight of homeless people and the vital work of the Dublin Simon Community. Dublin Simon offers people a “continuum of care” throughout the stages of homelessness. It includes contacting rough sleepers on the streets through its rough sleeper team and soup run; emergency shelter; supported and transitional housing; resettlement; learning and development; alcohol and detox services; and the tenancy sustainment service.

Previous public Ballymun Gospel Choir/Band performances include performing in Ballymun for President Mary McAleese and a Late Late Show appearance backing Simon Casey in 2005, a sold-out gig at the Temple Bar Music Centre in 2006, a sell-out performance at the Axis Theatre in Ballymun in 2007 and a summer performance at Farmleigh House as well as performances at recent Other World (Samhain-Halloween) Festivals here in Ballymun. The Ballymun Gospel Choir Mass was televised on RTE Television on Sunday morning April 6th 2008 and received a huge favourable response locally and nationally

The Ballymun Gospel Choir, backed by its superb 5-piece band, raise the roof every Sunday night at 7pm Sunday Mass in Shangan Rd Church, Ballymun. This exceptional Choir and Band are managed by Sli Eile. Sli Eile is the Irish Jesuit Outreach to young Adults that involves faith and justice activities. Sli Eile believes in the fundamental dignity of every human person and works for a better world for all people regardless of race, colour, creed, gender or age.
