category antrim | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Friday December 08, 2006 20:51author by Ciarán Report this post to the editors

"Back from Beirut"

Tuesday 12th December, 7.30pm
Room 307, Peter Froggatt Centre, QUB

"Members of the Derry Anti-War Coalition (DAWC), including several of the
raytheon 9, have returned from a trip to Beirut on 16th -19th November
during which time they had the opportunity to meet with witnesses and
survivors of bomb attacks, local activists, and researchers who are
compiling evidence of the bombs used by Israel, many of which were
manufactured and supplied by raytheon.

As part of a series of meetings, to be held by the DAWC around Ireland,
reporting back on their experiences in Lebanon, the Belfast Anti-War
Movement (BAWM) are pleased to announce a public meeting in Room 307 of the
Peter Froggatt Centre, Queens University Belfast at 7.30pm on Tues 12th Dec.
The meeting will include video footage recorded by the group during their
trip with local eyewitness accounts from Beirut.

In addition to the speakers from the DAWC, David Morrison will open with a
talk on current political developments in Lebanon drawn from his extensive
research and recent writings on the topic in a bid to help explain and
contextualise the complex situation found in Lebanon today."
