We are not prepared to stand idly by !
Some 200 people sickened with the butchery being visited on the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples by the IDF assembled at the fountain in Eyre Square for some fiery speeches denouncing the ongoing wanton carnage and to demand the withdrawal of yankee/coalition troopsf from Iraq and Afghanistan and for Syria and Iran not to be attacked.
Galway Alliance Against War (GAAW) were the organisers of the demo with the IPSC, SWP, Sinn Fein and Greens all working towards its success as regards postering, sound system, etc. The march ended up at Eamon O'Cuivs office where a letter lashing the supine whimperings of the present crew in government on the bloodletting was handed in.

A Limerick IPSC activist who, fair play, journed up for the day of rage against Israel and all its works.

Doug and Anne to the forefront

Mayor of Galway city and pristine activist, Neil O'Brolchain (GP).

Henrike (in purple top in R/H of pic) in saturnine mood ?, true, 'cos, sometimes, her smile outshines a thousand suns.
Well done, Galway! Here I am, feeling ever so slightly in exile, and I see familiar faces in the photos. I would be marching if I were there. Great to see that spirit there. The bombing in Cana will, of course, not force Bush and the android Condaleeza Rice to confront Israel; ' appopriate' forms of words will be discovered by which meaningless comments can be made. Israel's 'Al Ha'aretz' newspaper even carries a report today saying that the deaths at Cana were caused by the delayed explosion of hidden weapons inside the bombed houses! No doubt, any lie is good enough when you have to cover up a war crime. There is, of course, no question of bringing Israel to the Hague on war crimes charges, because the US, those protectors of democracy and freedom and justice throughout the world, wouldn't hear of it. It is interesting to see Bertie Ahern taking some sort of positive stance and saying 'No' to US requests to ferry arms to Israel through Shannon, in the light of word from the UK that basis in Scotland now may have been used for this. But he'll have to do more than take Condie's word for what goes on in Co Clare. French newspapers, even regional ones, are reporting well on the Middle East. God bless all and very well done.
