Sunday Times targets "lefties, environmentalists" etc.

category national | anti-capitalism | opinion/analysis author Sunday July 23, 2006 03:31author by cool j Report this post to the editors

Anyone read last weeks editorial in the Sunday times in which they put the boot into the Rossport 5 and subsequently unleash an angry rant against environmentalists, lefties etc. and anyone else who dares question the right of large multi-nationals to tramble over Irish citizens rights and our enviroment.?

A shocking piece of gutter journalism which would make even the SIndo plush. Not content with spinning numerious lies on behalf of Shell the editorial also hit out at all those who dare upset the agenda of multi-nationals in Ireland. Read like a PD election burb!!. I subsequently rang the paper to point out the many facts they seemed to have trouble with last Sunday. Whoever I got through too was having none of it and claimed the piece was balanced - Obviously a case for the men in white coats!!. When I pointed out the many errors in this nasty little piece of work all i got was silence down the other end of the phone. The Sunday Times obviously goes by the "Don't let the truth get in the way of ones agenda" approach to journalism. ONe wonders if their is a floor when it comes to the ongoing fall in standards of printed media in this country!!!
