![]() celebrate the bicycle in all it's its glory! Dublins first Bike Festival 21st – 23rd July! This is the first year for The Dublin Bicycle Festival. It's aim is to celebrate the bicycle in all it's inspirational glory. Work in the show will include: tall bikes, photography, painting, sculpture, film and video, poetry, bike maintenence, music, theatre, and whatever else comes our way! This is an independant arts festival, with very little funding, so if you feel like contributing in any way, please do get in touch. |

Jump To Comment: 1Throughout the 3 days of the festival, there will be an art exhibition, featuring photography, painting, illustration, sculpture, soundscapes, and interactive media. This exhibition takes place in the chq.
Fri 21 July
All day friday, artists will be in the chq, demonstrating and discussing their work.
12.40: Bicycle Music
Hear solo artist Rory Grubb make unusual live music from his bike and a range of other acoustic instruments in his now well established show, Bicycle Music.
19 .00: Cinema evening in Budda Bag in Dublin's Italian Quarter will run from seven till nine, featuring short bicycle related films from Irish and international film makers. Admission €5, tickets available from chq on the friday. Admission includes drinks and snacks.

Throughout the day bicycle clown / performance artist Paddy Waterswill be performing.
13.00: Bike Workshop
Tall Bike enthusiasts demonstrate the making of weird and wonderful tall bikes and will give a talk on how they are made. If you haven't seen a tall bike they are worth a look!
15.00: Zen and the Art of Wheel Building.
Dalkey to Delhi cyclist Sean O'Tuathaill will talk us through the beautiful thing that is the assembly of a bicycle wheel, with much general wisdom thrown in along the way.

15.00: Sideways Bike
Michael Killian will be along for a talk about his latest invention, the sideways bike. Many of you may be familiar with him from the streets of Dublin.
15.30: Seán Óg's OneManBikeOneManBike is a musical experiment involving Seán's trusty workhorse which has served him well since 1989. For this solo performance the bicycle has been re-imagined as a musical toy: spokes are swapped for piano strings, tubing is blown through and hooters adorn the frame.
