Mafia News for World Press Freedom Day.

category international | crime and justice | news report author Wednesday May 03, 2006 14:43author by iosaf mac diarmada Report this post to the editors

3 little mafia news items not really getting attention in the Irish Commercial Press to put everything in perspective for you as to the quality and depth of our "liberal democratic system" this May 3rd which as we all know is "World Press Freedom Day".

Which the UN wants us to use to correlate media freedom and the eradication of poverty, as you may obviously see from this mornings commercial newspapers.
I don't care if its world press freedom day.... I just pay them less.

Berlusconi as we all know lost the elections of April 9th and 10th. & called fro a recount. (didn't work) then promptly saw members of his coalition do their damn best to buy the Italian senate and massage the results. (the Senate ended with a majority of only 2 to the lefties)
But until a new president is elected on May 9th, Prodi can't actually form his government. Berlusconi describes this as a "moral victory". Ordinary people gathered to shout a casa! a casa! at him as he left, which means "go home! go home!". & so he did, to the bunker fortress he built on Sardinia. & the small consolation for us all ought be that the regional government of Sardinia has just slapped an "llegal construction" order on the bunker and is now demanding the right to enter the private property (which previously had immunity status) and make sure everything is in order.

As we know the day Berlusconi lost the election the capo degli capos de la cosa nostra the mafia bosses of bosses, the Corleone was arrested in Sicily after being a "fugitive" for more years than anyone can remember. He has gone on trial today for murder.

Last bit of mafia news concerns secret bank accounts, clearance banking, "$1.5 trillion math errors",
Rockefeller, Bin Laden and De Villepin, Sarkosy and Chirac and of course the DGSE (French secret service).

General Dr Philippe Rondot (born 1936) is a retired French military officer "formerly an important personality of the French intelligence. He worked for both the DST and the DGSE (traditionally rival services) and was councelor to several Defence ministers (either Right or Left-wing)."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_Rondot

He's giving testimony to an inquiry in France at the moment on what is being called in english "Clearstream 2" and in French "Clearstream". Thats because this is the first time it really has effected the French. Le Monde have just presented their evidence as journalists doing their jobs and investigating the mafia, which as we all ought know, is a prerequisite for democracy.

The inquiry began about a month ago, and is having a serious effect on the credibility (?) of the French regime of Chirac and De Villepin amongst the hard working middle classes, who honestly didn't give two figs for the precarity laws, hate the poor of the banlieu and their burning cars, but still don't merit secret bank accounts or "$1.5 trillion math errors" even if in French they don't call them trillions they call them billions or milliards .

Wikipedia can bring you through the whole scandal, but note the French paragraphs are still a bit short on detail, "Clearstream 2" is just beginning. General Dr Philippe Rondot has emphatically accused Chirac and De Villepin of being upto their eyes in it, and worse, that De Villepin had Sarkosy (his fellow minister but also rival) under surveillance to figure out how much he knew.... & if he would use it as political leverage.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clearstream_scandal

Democrats are great aren't they? Till you remember De Villepin was never democratically elected.

"Throughout the world, 3 May serves as an occasion to inform the public of violations of the right to freedom of expression and as a reminder that many journalists brave death or jail to bring people their daily news. The main theme of World Press Freedom Day 2006 is the correlation between media freedom and the eradication of poverty.

Thats what the United Nations say. & everyone pays attention to them.
