Picket Tues 21st Feb
Even though the council lorry arrived earlier than anticipated over 15 took part in the weekly picket!
Tuesday mornings is bin day in the New Houses in Ringsend. Four weeks ago non collection was implemented in this area. Residents have been throwing their waste onto the back of the bin truck every week since and are determined to keep up the fight along with residents in Cabra and East Wall.

You are really scratching around with that comment to find a 'reason' to belittle those double-bin tax protestors , are'nt you ?

Rates were abolished in 1976 as 'unconstitutional' and , as a result , VAT was increased by two-and-a-half per cent to compensate local authorities . Everyone has been paying that extra two-and-a-half per cent since 1976 - if the local Councils have not being receiving that money , then it is the politicians that owe it , not us (a case for the Mahon Tribunal , perhaps ?) .
Those of us that are refusing to pay this charge are doing so because we do not believe that we should have to pay twice for the one service . If you decide to do so (ie pay twice) then that is your business , but please do not expect that we should all be as compliant as you are . Some of us have a bottom line .
