JOINT COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORT

REQUEST FOR SUBMISSIONS

The Committee is a Joint Committee of Dail Eireann and Seanad Eiroenn,
whose terms of reference include consideration of:

(i) Such public affairs administered by the Department of Transport as
it may select, including, in respect of Government policy, bodies under
the aegis of that department;
(ii) Such matters of policy for which the Minister for Transport is
officially responsible as it may select; and
(iii) Such related policy issues as it may select concerning bodies
which are partly or wholly funded by the State or which are established
or appointed by Members of the Government or by the Oireachtas.

The Members of the Joint Committee on Transport are Deputies John
Ellis, (Chairperson), Peter Power (Voce-Chairperson), Martin Brady,
paul Connaughton, Jim Glennon, Seamus Healy, Michael Lowry, Olivia
Mitchell, Noel O’Flynn, Roisin Shortall, Ollie Wilkinson and Senators
Paddy Burke, Timmy Dooley, Tom Morrisey and David Norris.

In pursuance of its terms of reference, the Joint Committee has decided
to consider submissions from interested parties on the proposed M3
(Clonee to Kells) road scheme. Consequently, the Joint Committee
invites initial written statements of interest in making such
submissions from interested parties and bodies and from members of the
general public.

Statements of interest should be made in writing only to:

Clerk of the Joint Committee on Transport
Leinster House,
Kildare Street,
Dublin 2.

* The closing date for receipt of statements is 12 noon 11th January
2005

ENDS

[Note. It appears that they only want a statement of intersest by 11
Jan, not the full submission. Any submission made to the Transport
Committtee should also be made to the Joint Committee on the
Environment at the same address, in similar time frame. ]

Suggestions...

I take it that a Statement of Interest is a letter expressing your interest in the route and your objection to the chosen one.
--
The main point is that they get as many letters as possible from as many people as possible. One page will do. They will assess them on the basis of
how many for and against.??
--
The message is clear and simply - re-route the road away from the TaraSkryne
Valley.
--
why is it important? what is progress? etc
