Jump To Comment: 1The attack occurred in late 1996. The IRA had called off their ceasefire in February 1996. The second ceasfire was called in July 1997. Therefore the attack took place when the IRA wasn't on ceasefire. Even if he was convicted he almost certainly would be released quickly under the Belfast Agreement.
