Phone Calls from America and Britain

category national | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Saturday October 09, 2004 17:56author by Sean Cruddenauthor email sean.crudden at iol dot ieauthor address Jenkinstown, Dundalk, Co Louth.author phone 087 9739945 Report this post to the editors

The Best of Friends

It's a small world and one searches for a reason why Ireland's bona fides were rejected in the search for the release of Ken Bigley R.I.P.

In a front-page article in this week’s (Wednesday) edition of The Dundalk Democrat, headed "Baptism of fire - and brimstone - for Ahern," Anne Marie Eaton writes of Dermot Ahern "He has received best wishes from US Secretary of State, Colin Powell and UK Home Secretary, Jack Straw, but says he is equally enthused about supportive messages he has received from his constituents."

In another article on page 4 the same reporter writes:

"Within a short time of his appointment, the new Minister had a phone call from America, as he explained ‘Not long after I received the seal, I received a phone call from US Secretary of State, Colin Powell wishing me well. I was delighted to receive the call and I think it demonstrates the closeness between Ireland and America.

‘I also spoke with UK Home Secretary, Jack Straw in the days after my appointment.’"

The final paragraph in this particular article reads:

"I’m delighted to have been given this post and in following in the footsteps of the late great Frank Aiken."

I know Anne Marie Eaton personally and I can safely say that she is an accurate reporter who never tries to distort the message she receives.

Frank Aiken was a soldier in The War of Independence and on the anti-treaty side in The Civil War. The stories of his military engagements are legendary but I have forgotten them and, in any case, there is no need to detail them here. He was a prominent member of The Irish Government throughout the Second World War.

The point I want to make is that in his mature years and especially as Minister for Foreign Affairs he upheld Ireland’s independence and neutrality and respect for the rule of international law as embodied in The United Nations. Ireland was respected by both sides in The Cold War and widely throughout the third world of developing countries.

I need hardly point out that we have a "hot" war brewing between Islam and The "Allies" amid many smokescreens and dazzling mirrors seeking to conceal distorted interpretations of the rights of a powerful nation to attack and interfere in the internal politics of smaller less powerful countries for reasons which while they are not widely understood are thought by many to be rooted in strategic selfishness.

I can only guess what Frank Aiken (from a place above politics) thinks of all this?

Readers of indymedia can judge for themselves if he would ever have drooled like a schoolboy over phone calls from Colin Powell and Jack Straw.

Again we have the fellow traveller using the murder of a 62 year old man to peddle their cause.

Aitken would probably tell indymedia where to shove it anyway. But for the record, Aiken wasn't a great guy, but one who could stand in the ranks of other religious bigots like Al-Qaeda anyday.

So who Cares What a Murderer Would Think of Bertie.

READ:

http://www.victims.org.uk/altnaveigh.html

"He led terrorist attacks on Newtownhamilton and Camlough police stations, and before the Altnaveigh massacre, he was involved in the murders of policemen, soldiers and civilians.

In June, 1922 Aiken still in his early 20s, issued a directive to IRA men under his command, calling for the destruction of enemy property, the property of Orangemen and the shooting of spies and informers.

During the early hours of the morning of June 17 Aiken's men claimed the lives of six Protestants at Altnaveigh and a policeman - the greatest loss of life in South Armagh on a single day until the Kingsmill massacre of January 1976, when the IRA shot 10 dead Protestant Workmen from Bessbrook. "

There is no basis to those lies and distortions against Aiken. It is taken from a loyalist site which purports to be a site set up by families of victims. In fact the site is blatantly one-sided and ignores the suffering of the Catholic community at the hands of UVF/UFF/UDR/B-Special/RUC terrorists. The site even equates the Gardai to the IRA! Any information from such a site must be regarded as completely unreliable.

Shooting off his oversized American loudmouth ...... and commenting on things about which he hasn't the faintest glimmer ....

He'd be far better off putting his money where his mouth is and heading off to Iraq in uniform to do his duty .... but of course that would presume that he's half the man he claims to be ......

Using the same copy-paste tactics as he does one could allege that the Founding Fathers of the USA were rabid anti-semites, every bit as bad as Adolf Hitler .....
Especially if you believe all that you find written on dubious web sites ....

By the way, Toneore, in case your self righteous transatlantic antennae can't decode the signals correctly, that's just a wee bit of Irish sarcasm to show up the absurdity of your loudmouth Yankee posturing devoid of any substance ......

But feel free to blether on all you like, nobody is listening to you .....

In a front-page article in this week’s (Wednesday) edition of The Dundalk Democrat, headed "Baptism of fire - and brimstone - for Ahern," Anne Marie Eaton writes of Dermot Ahern

Be [torah]! When I glimpsed this story I thought that Dermot Ahern went mad and got Baptised with Saint Maurice Smyth from the Point Road in Dundalk the man who is saved or at least tell everyone he is saved and is going to heaven. Smyth says, “he hates the Catholic Church and that they are the devils church”! As well he says, “He is born again and is above religion”! Smyth is a member of Killeen Gospel Hall on the Newry Road 2 miles from Armagh and claims to have baptised a man Ciarain Quinn by immersion Saturday 2nd October although this young man was baptised in the Catholic Church when an infant over 30 years ago.

I am relieved to hear that Dermot Ahern has escaped Blasphemous act imposed by Smyth a former baker and tote assistant in a local bookies some time back. However it is further sad to see that the good TD and Minister for foreign Affairs failed to get Ken Bigley RIP freed form the gallows in the light of the further report:

· “Within a short time of his appointment, the new Minister had a phone call from America, as he explained ‘Not long after I received the seal, I received a phone call from US Secretary of State, Colin Powell wishing me well. I was delighted to receive the call and I think it demonstrates the closeness between Ireland and America”.

Dermot is a well-watched politician, as the yanks seem to have great interest in Ireland. So have others such as those who follow Fuller and born again Christianity. From my observance of things it seems the yanks are trying to brainwash us are every angle as we prove a good potential for their prosperity. The yanks are keen on destroying our neutrality and also destroying the Catholic Church with agents like Smyth who appears like a dumb Lamb but can act as vicious as a wolf in an attempt to rob souls from the Catholic faith.

We all need to be on our guard now as we could be undermined very easily. Many innocent Irish lost their lives in the fight for civil liberties and now many of these hard fought for liberties appear to be under great threat. We need now to have on our warning lights. Irishisms seem to rig a bell for Americanisms. Think about what I have said. At the end of the day Bush is no fool neither is Smyth nor Dermot is certainly not either. All are raking in the [currency] in their own right yet Ken Bigley has lost his life on this earth in vain.

Well, assuming (for a moment) that there is a god I think that man who does the baptisms is as likely as yourself to get to 'Heaven'. Even Archbishop Hynes does not come out with that sort of sectarian drivel.
