September Meeting of Cooley Environmental and Health Group

Plans for their winter workshop 2005 being drawn up by this innovative group.

A special meeting of Cooley Environmental and Health Group took place in The Strand, Omeath on Tuesday 21 September 2004 starting at 8.30 p.m.

Sean Crudden (acting as chairperson in the absence of the chairperson of the group, Arthur Morgan TD) confirmed that Dr Dennis Pringle, Senior Lecturer, Department of Geography, NUI Maynooth had received the gift the group despatched to him in April.

Mr Crudden described recent efforts to find a sponsor for the group’s website (www.cooleyehg.com). He said that Arthur Morgan had promised assistance.

It was decided that the net be cast far and wide in the search for speakers who would participate in the group’s winter workshop which is due to take place on Saturday afternoon 29 January 2005 in The Strand. The title of the workshop is "Organisation and Health."

The menu for the post-workshop dinner was decided and the representative of The Strand confirmed that B&B would be available in The Strand on the weekend of the workshop at a rate of 35E p.p. (sharing) to cater for people from around the country who may wish to participate in the workshop.

Sean Crudden told the meeting that he had received a commitment from a representative of Louth County Enterprise Board that that board would give some grant assistance to Cooley Environmental and Health Group for organising the workshop. Gratitude for this was expressed at the meeting.

It was decided to seek permission from Eric Hynes to publish the memoir he presented to the winter workshop in January 2004. The title of the memoir is "How Furniture Came to Be Manufactured in Bellurgan."

Handball was discussed.

The meeting complimented the teams, mentors and supporters involved in the recently played final of the Co. Louth Senior Gaelic Football Championship (between Cooley Kickhams and the winners - St Patrick's).

The next meeting of Cooley Environmental and Health Group was fixed for Tuesday 19 October 2004 starting at 8.30 p.m. in The Strand, Omeath.
