Racist Referendum

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Wednesday May 12, 2004 13:45author by Michael Gallagher - C.A.R.R. & R.A.R.author email residentsagainstracism at eircom dot netauthor address c/o 12a Brunswick Place, Dublin 2.author phone 087 7974622 - 086 4048249 - 087 6662060 Report this post to the editors

Campaign Leaflet Distributors Needed

The Campaign Against the Racist Referendum (C.A.R.R.), have produced over 300,000 leaflets calling for a NO vote in the forthcoming referendum on citizenship.

Over the past few weeks these leaflets have been handed out at bus and railway stations etc. and there are a number of regular weekly handouts, mostly in Dublin. We need more volunteers to get involved in this vital campiagn - especially in cities and counties outside Dublin.
If you are opposed to this racist referendum and want to see it beaten and confined to the bin, contact the campaign and take some leaflets for you and your friends to deliver in your area etc.
This racist referendum can be beaten -like the Nice Treaty - but it will take a massive effort from people all over the country if this is to happen, get involved now!
There are also a number of raffle tickets left for this Saturday's 15th May, cash draw. [ title changed from all caps. Please don't do this. Thanks - Ed]

I'm sorry to have to inform you but the Nice Treaty passed. There was a referendum in October 2002 and it obtained a 'yes' vote of 63%. That's why 10 new members were admitted to the EU in Dublin on May 1. If the Nice Treaty hadn't passed, they wouldn't have been admitted. You surely can't have been unaware of the ceremonies celebrating their admission in Dublin that day, as I do believe they were quite widely reported on Indymedia.

Yes John, we know about the second bite of the cherry. Obviously the first bite left a sour taste in your mouth! Did you know that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit?
I would appreciate it if time wasters with nothing better to do, stay off serious sites like this one. If you have comic ambitions, try the Battle of the Axe at the Halfpenny Bridge Inn or the sequel to Bosco!
