Wexford council staff to hold strike ballot

category wexford | miscellaneous | news report author Tuesday December 09, 2003 17:59author by Yellowbellied worker - Wexford Soviet Report this post to the editors

Staff in sections of Wexford County Council are to be balloted for all-out strike action in support of a colleague who was made redundant last month.

Joe Harpur, 43, was employed under a Community Employment Scheme as an assistant FAS supervisor at the National Heritage Park near Wexford town.

The council says the allocation of resources to such schemes has fallen in the past year and this affected his position.

More than 200 council employees took part in a protest in Wexford yesterday in support of Mr Harpur. From RTÉ News
