Donegal Peace Group are busy organising Public Peace Forums which will welcome noted peace activists to Donegal Town this month. The activists will counter claims that the war on Iraq was a victory and provide useful insights into the current U.S/U.K occupation of Iraq and its vast oil resources. They will also detail their efforts in working for global peace and justice. The ‘Peace Forums‚ will close with an Outdoor Social Gathering on August 29th. The meetings are open to all and free debate and discussion is encouraged. =================================================

1. Ciaron O’Reilly, Catholic Worker Movement

Ciaron O'Reilly (42) is an Irish Australian. He is presently working at a homeless shelter in Dublin and is long time member of the Catholic Worker Movement and was one of the ‘Pitstop Ploughshares’ who disarmed an Iraq bound U.S war plane at Shannon airport on St. Brigid’s day of this year. Bloody troublemakers the whole lot of them.
Lock them up and throw away the key, that's my advice.

It's very heartening to see that Donegal Peace Group are actively working against the war that Messrs Bush and Blair were pretending was over.
There are some very active peace groups still slogging away, Besides Donegal, I know of Fairview, Cork, Limerick, Tralee, Galway, Derry, Belfast, the Catholic Workers, Pax Christi - and The Irish Anti-war Movement meets regularly. I'm sure there are others. There are also several individuals who keep up the pressure. Can someone publish the names of those I haven't mentioned.
One advantage the present anti-war campaign has got is an outlet in Indymedia, bypassing the mainstream media if they don't want to know.
Also emails that bring us together at the press of a button.
Of course the people who have put their freedom on the line beginning with Eoin Dubsky, Mary Kelly, Deirdre Clancy, Nuin Dunlop, Karen Fallon, Damien Moran, Ciaron O'Reilly, Fintan Lane, Jenny Hannon, Martin McGowan and a host of others are those who keep inspiring the movement.
Great work.
