[Dublin] Launch of Children are in the Front Line of Israel’s Blockade of Gaza – A Report By Stephen McCloskey (Israeli Apartheid Week 2013)

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Wednesday February 13, 2013 17:41author by IPSC - IPSC Report this post to the editors

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign cordially invites you to the launch of a new report on living conditions for children in Gaza.

Title: Children are in the Front Line of Israel’s Blockade of Gaza – A Report by Stephen McCloskey

Time & Date: Tuesday, 26th February 2013 from 11.00 am.

Venue: Culture Box, 12 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2

Written just before Israel launched its ‘Operation Pillar of Cloud’ attack on Gaza last November, in which 30 Palestinian minors lost their lives, this is a timely reminder that although it has slipped from the headlines, Israel’s blockade of Gaza continues with devastating consequences for its children. After visiting the region and seeing the situation first hand, Director of the Centre for Global Education, Stephen McCloskey, has compiled a hard hitting report on just what the continuing blockade means to the children of Gaza’s health, sanitation, education and future status.

Coming on the heels of the UN’s alarming report, Gaza in 2020: A Liveable Place?, Stephen’s report illuminates the realities of everyday life for almost a million children trapped in what even British Prime Minister David Cameron described as “a prison camp”.

All are welcome and Stephen will be happy to answer questions. In addition there will be a live link-up with an Irish human rights worker based in Gaza who will give an update on the situation for children in the aftermath of the latest conflict there.

This event is organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) as one of a series of events taking place around Ireland during international Israeli Apartheid Week 2013 (23 February – 2nd March).
