Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7That giant sucking sound is a huge mass of Labour voters being hoovered up by the Sinn Fein and independents camp as Labour's opinion poll numbers plummet.
No wonder! Sinn fein are the only party left that look like they might stand up to the eurocrats on this treaty and all the other austerity measures attacking the living standards of the poor and reducing them by an estimated 26% while those of the top 5% INCREASE by 8%
This insane permanent austerity treaty will finish Labour for years. Rightly so. Good post. VOTE NO!

..once again become the pink condom on the blue flute of FG riding us roughshod up the (E)S&M bondage valley of debt.
Half a league, half a league, half a league onwards
CAP in hand they steal the land
By stealth from Nice to Lisbon
Spinning out the barbed-wire lies
They fence your children outwards
From fishing stocks to corporate sharks
All to the heart of Europe
Beneath Swiss Alps they store the scalps
Of others screwed before us.
A wee nursery rhyme for the times that are in it.
Feel free to edit and adapt(it may be the last whiff of freedom we get before the grapeshot).
ESM=Extractive Siphon Mechanism.
Sinn féin may claim to be opposed to austerity, so why then are they implementing austerity against hundreds of thousands of people in the North?
would sinn féin care to comment on this?
The situation in those 6 counties is similar to what it will be in the other 26 if we allow the Austerity Treaty proper (the vehicle), as well as the ESM funding treaty (the fuel); Ireland north and south will be reduced to essentially administering only those funds we are so granted leave to by institutions and powers outside the island.
As I understand it, SF in the 6 has done it's best to manage the money actually available to it despite the cuts enforced from outside the country. This is why the sovereign powers of a nation - currency, taxation, budgets, deficits and so on, are so vital in remaining under the control of the people most effected by them.
You should consider the limitation on choices that have been forced on the North from outside, indicative of those that will be forced on the rest of the country if we allow these treaties to pass.
No, Oisin, you should 'consider the limitation on choices that have been forced on the North from outside' its called British Imperialism, which your party is complicit with. Occupiers/imperialists always need local collaborators, and in this case its sinn fein.
Not only is sinn fein party to Austerity but it administers a statlet that tortures and Interns people. these are the facts. Can you dispute these facts? be my guest.
My last line wasn't clear: you should consider the remnant of the British Empire's continuing limitations put on the North _to_be_indicative_of_ what will happen to he rest of the country on a perennial basis. I am presuming you would think that is a bad/worse situation than even what happens now - & that is the actual topic of this particular article.
Following a series of unanswered telephones calls, myself is voting NADA. No.
